Does Anthony Joshua deserve another go at Oleksandr Usyk? All the way back in September 2021, the Englishman fought Usyk and suffered a devastating loss via unanimous decision, something he couldn’t change in the following year in their rematch. Since then, Joshua has unraveled a new chapter in his career with comeback fights against Otto Wallin and, more importantly, Francis Ngannou, who even gave Tyson Fury a run for his money last year. Not to mention, Joshua has now teamed up with coach Ben Davison. But! Usyk doesn’t think the wins or the new coach would matter much if they fought again in an interview with Boxing King Media.

During Usyk’s interview, the reporter suggested Joshua could be a problem for him because of Ben Davison. However, the Ukrainian heavyweight wasn’t buying any of it! He promptly responded by saying, “I don’t know because Francis Ngannou and Otto Wallin [are] good boxers, but not top level boxers.”

Speaking about Joshua’s last fight, Usyk casually tossed that second-round knockout into the ‘easy-peasy’ pile of victories. “Anthony is a great man, great boxer, Olympic champion. His last fight was great because Anthony is Olympic champion and it was Ngannou’s second boxing fight,” said Oleksandr Usyk.

Joshua said, “I’ve fought Usyk so I can only speak on what I’ve experienced with him – phenomenal fighter, I would say he’s going to do a really good job… I’ve never fought Fury, so I can’t speak on what it’s like to face him. Saudi Arabia chief Turki Alalshikh is the mastermind behind a potential Fury vs. Joshua fight as he’s eyeing it for March 2025, per ESPN.

A monstrous clash between Fury and Joshua could take place in Saudi Arabia or England.

As for the contracted rematch between Fury and Usyk, Alalshikh is lining up the rematch for October 12 or October 13.

But their second meeting will be without the IBF world title as the governing body ruled that Filip Hrgovic’s mandatory title shot as No.1 contender is overdue, meaning he could fight for the vacant belt when he takes on Daniel Dubois on June 1.

However, Hrgovic has been linked with a fight with Joshua, who could enter a potential fight against Fury with undisputed status on the line should he beat the Croatian star if they fought this year.

What’s more, if Fury and Usyk split the two fights, the rubber match could take place later in 2025 after Fury vs. Joshua.

“I’ve fought Usyk so I can only speak on what I’ve experienced with him – phenomenal fighter, I would say he’s gonna do a really good job,” he said.

“I’ve never fought Fury, so I can’t speak on what it’s like to face him. Only speaking on what I know, I have to say Usyk will be victorious.”

Anthony Joshua has hinted he could finally fight Tyson Fury in September, following the Gypsy King’s undisputed heavyweight showdown with Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury is set to face Usyk in Saudi Arabia on May 18 in a blockbuster bout for the WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF titles. And when asked about his fight plans while at the London Marathon, Joshua told BBC Sport his future depends on the result of Fury vs Usyk.

“Boxing is changing a lot, there is a new player, Turki Alalshikh, who is taking the world by storm,” Joshua said on BBC One. “He is doing what he wants for the fans, it’s amazing. So if the fans demand it, I know that he will deliver. I know the fans want me and Fury, I want that. I’m not going to give away plans, but he is a man of action. It’s coming, most definitely it’s coming.”

And when asked if a bout against Fury would be next for him, Joshua hinted the pair could fight in September.

“To be honest, he said be ready for September,” Joshua explained. “Why he said that is because they have got a fight on June 1, all the heavyweights, five vs five, Eddie Hearn vs Frank Warren.

“And they have got Fury vs Usyk in May. And then they will have me in September. It’s unbelievable.” Joshua’s comments come after he met Alalshikh, who said they were “waiting for the result of Usyk vs Fury” before deciding AJ’s next move.

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has stated he expects Alalshikh to set up a clash between Fury and AJ if the Gypsy King beats Usyk next month, despite the Ukrainian fighter having a rematch clause.

“I never thought I would be OK saying I am not the most powerful man in boxing but I am not, Turki Alalshikh is,” Hearn said earlier this month. “He is the biggest fight fan I have ever met and all he wants is the biggest fights and the biggest moments.
