Tiger Woods’s Legacy Faces Tremendous Threat From Scottie Scheffler: ‘10x Better Than Tiger’ Says Enthralled Fans

It was the first playoff hole at the Travelers Championship. Scottie Scheffler was circling his ball 11 feet from the hole on the 18th green for a birdie. However, he failed to card the same but instead, he guided the ball for a par, clinching another victory of the season. Little did the pro know that he would be equaling one of Tiger Woods’s records with that par-putt all the while being close to breaking the 48-year-old’s record.

A tweet was shared by the official X handle of the PGA Tour mentioning how Scheffler managed to join the “elite company.” The post pointed out how he is the first player since Woods to emerge victorious a total of six times in a single season, the latter of whom had done it last in 2009.

Scheffler kicked off his wins with a victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational which saw him scoring a 15-under. He followed it with a triumph at the PLAYERS Championship, The Masters, RBC Heritage, The Memorial Tournament presented by Workday, and the recently ended Travelers Championship. By doing so, he joined the likes of Woods and Nick Price in winning six times during a season, the latter of whom did it back in 1994.

Scheffler would surely be looking to best the 82-time PGA Tour champ in the future with three more wins this season. The latter had also garnered 7 triumphs in a single year in 2007 just like Tom Watson did back in 1980. Moreover, he also procured 8 victories a year back in 1999 and 2006 while topping the table with the most number of victories in a season alongside Vijay Singh at 9. Woods had done so in 2000 as opposed to Singh, who raked in the wins four years later, in 2004. The fans, meanwhile, were very amused by the 2024 Masters champ after being compared to the legend of the game.

The current No. 1 also boasts a points average of more than 16 (16.2879 before the Travelers win) with a total of 815.28559 points (after the Travelers win). This makes the two-time major champ the only pro after Tiger Woods to achieve the same after OWGR adopted the two-year rolling system in 1996. A fan consequently commented, “He’s the best player since Tiger.”

Nelly Korda has been doing a similar thing as Scheffler while he was dominating the PGA Tour. The 25-year-old, despite a sub-par start at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, emerged triumphant six times. Out of the same, she won five of them consecutively helping her clinch the top spot on the Rolex Ranking. A follower couldn’t help but point out the same as they responded, “First male player. Nelly Korda did it this year.”

The PGA Tour has finished a total of 28 events on its 2024 calendar including three major championships. The men’s circuit has 12 more tournaments remaining counting the upcoming Open Championship, and the FedEx playoffs, the latter of which is set to take place in August. Scheffler, during the post-round presser, also divulged his plans for the future as he said, “I’m playing The Open, the Olympics, and then the last three playoff events, and then I think I should be on the Presidents Cup team, and after that, I’ll take a break.” With such a packed schedule in tow, a couple of his fans came forward to mention the same, “He’s not done,” and “With two full months to go.”

The PIF officials met with the PGA Tour’s Transaction Subcommittee which included the likes of Rory McIlroy, Woods, and Adam Scott, on June 7. The talks did not succeed in closing the framework agreement. The PGA Tour, as a result, sent a memo to its members reiterating the need for more time to make the merger a reality. A fan, meanwhile, alluded to the same while commenting, “Sadly his competition isn’t the same. Records mean nothing until the PGA and LIV work something out.”

The community can only wait and watch as the 2024 Masters champ hopes to overcome the wall that is Tiger Woods this season.

Serena’s serve became a guessing game for her opponents. The major factor that contributed to this dominance was her unbreakable form! Whether she is serving a slow slice serve with a below 100mph speed or a powerful one with over 120 mph, her form is never disturbed. Bouchard revealed, “So the power is there, but you don’t know where it is going. She has a great turn, and she has the same toss whether she is going wide or T, That makes her power much more effective. The GOAT server of all time”

The 23-time Grand Slam champion is said to have the Once-In-A-Lifetime Serve. Her former coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, once called her the best server ever. The American tennis legend’s serve averaged around 106 mph and her fastest came during her peak in 2013. Williams blew the margins set with her 128.6 mph serve. Moreover, as she neared her retirement, her service peaked at 125.5 mph at the Australian equalling Rafael Nadal at the tournament.

However, the 23-time Grand Slam champion is no longer on tour. And search for her heir apparent is going on, the one who would step into the shoes of Serena Williams. Though her daughter Olympia is certainly seen as a successor, in contemporary times, it might be Coco Gauff who would take her crown.

A photograph of Anthony Joshua and two-time English heavyweight titleholder John McDermott has gained considerable traction since it came. Fans and followers have been joining in droves to share their thoughts and views. Interestingly, a common theme clouded the overall tone of the comments. On Tuesday, June 25, it will be the fourteenth anniversary of the rematch between John McDermott and Tyson Fury. ‘The Gypsy King’ won the bout via technical knockout in the 9th round. However, it is their first square-off, which took place nearly a year before the rematch, that still sparks a heated debate among fans.

On September 11, 2009, at Essex’s Brentwood Center, ‘Big Bad John’ entered the ring opposite Tyson Fury. They clashed for the latter’s English heavyweight title. Fury continued his unbeaten track and won the match with a six-point difference, 98-92. However, the way the referee, who was also the match’s lone judge, scored came under heavy criticism.

Noted boxing writer James Slater wrote at the time. “…first the quite disgusting scoring of O’Connor must be addressed. How on earth he had Fury winning by a whopping SIX points in what everyone else saw as a close fight that the more experienced McDermott deserved to win is beyond me…..For what it’s worth, I had McDermott winning by three points,” said Slater.

Injustice revisited

Though it’s been over a decade, the view doesn’t seem to have changed for many boxing diehards. Let’s check out what some of them had to say about the ‘AJ’-McDermott photo and, of course, the Fury fight.

Pointing at ‘Big Bad John’, this user called him the man who inflicted the first professional loss on Tyson Fury.

Then, sharing a similar opinion, the next user highlighted how many fans felt that John McDermott was the real winner when he clashed with ‘The Gypsy King’. The user nevertheless expressed satisfaction at finding the former heavyweight enjoying life in general.

Continuing with the prevailing opinion, the next fan went back in time, traveling to the first Tyson Fury-John McDermott fight. According to the fan, it was a victory unfairly stolen away from ‘Big Bad John’.

The skeptics ensured to keep the comment box roaring. Take, for instance, this follower. They seemingly took a dig, claiming that it won’t shock them at all if Anthony Joshua squares up against John McDermott.

Then a Tyson Fury fan also joined the party. According to them, ‘Big Bad John’ and ‘AJ’ might be the only two people who go around claiming they could beat Tyson Fury. But the reality is that neither of them could pull it off in the past, nor would they ever be able to do it in the future.

After losing the rematch to Tyson Fury, John McDermott continued for the next three years. On March 15, 2013, he once again became the English heavyweight champion. However, he never went for a title defense thereafter.

After that second-round KO win over Francis Ngannou, fans are eagerly looking forward to ‘AJ’s next move. According to Eddie Hearn, the former heavyweight champion might headline the September 21 Riyadh Season card at Wembley Stadium. As of now, Daniel Dubois appears as the frontrunner on the list of potential opponents. A win over Dubois will make Joshua the title holder for the third time. Additionally, he could be the first to challenge the winner of Tyson Fury-Oleksandr Usyk II.

Recently, @_54Golf shared a post on X captioning “LIV Golf & Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans coming together this February?” The post further indicated, “Confirmed reports that Greg Norman was in the Crescent City scouting golf courses to host a LIV event while the Super Bowl is in town. ” 

The post also highlighted quotes from Troy Tutt, who said, “We saw a lot of success being in Vegas and we’d be silly not to heavily consider.” The event took place from February 8–10 this year at the Las Vegas Country Club. LIV Golf Las Vegas drew a huge crowd, thanks to fans who were in the city to watch the Super Bowl on the 11th. The final day of the tournament saw a large number of spectators, many wearing 49ers or Chiefs gear. Notably, it was also the first Super Bowl held in Las Vegas, which might have added to the excitement.

If the LIV Golf event aligns with Super Bowl LIX, Norman could draw a bigger crowd and more viewers. As per the reports, it will likely happen. Also, it’s anticipated that LA Governor Jeff Landry will attend LIV Nashville as Greg Norman’s guest this weekend. Talking about making a bold move, this isn’t the first time Greg Norman has done something like this.

Recently, the PGA Tour announced ISCO Industries as the new title sponsor of its event in Kentucky, which was formerly known as the Barbasol Championship. ISCO Industries specializes in piping solutions and boasts nearly $500 million in revenue. Previously, the event was sponsored by the shaving brand Barbasol, but their contract with the Tour expired in 2023, and they opted not to renew it. Meanwhile, Greg Norman also made a significant announcement.

As per reports from Sports Business Journal, LIV is partnering with Maserati, a luxury car brand valued at approximately $65.55 billion, and will be featured at three upcoming LIV tournaments. Maserati will serve as the official automotive partner for the league, including events in Nashville and Chicago in mid-September. LIV Golf is constantly making moves to improve its conditions.

Fans Left Jaw-Dropped as Gervonta Davis Remains the Last One Standing From PBC’s Legacy

Not every boxer has what it takes to overcome every adversity on their path to glory. Most fall quickly, others show great courage, but a few make it to the top. Over the years, Gervonta Davis has proven to be exactly that as he celebrated yet another victory, this time over Frank Martin in Las Vegas. And no one’s happier about it than his coach Calvin Ford!

So, the Baltimore boxing coach turned to social media today to share a picture featuring PBC greats from 2018, including Errol Spence Jr, Adrien Broner, Jermall Charlo, Jermell Charlo, and, of course, the man of the hour Gervonta Davis. And the last one on the far right was veteran boxer, Zab Judah. Most of the champions in the image were undefeated at the time except for Adrien Broner. However, things are very different today. This seems to have left fans reminiscing about the good old days, as they quickly highlighted Davis as the last man standing today!

Even though Gervonta Davis remains undefeated with each of his fights, getting him closer and closer to legendary status, the same can not be said about the rest of the folks in the picture. Spence Jr. hasn’t appeared in the ring since his devastating defeat at the hands of Terence Crawford. Broner’s attempt to make a comeback started well but quickly fell apart after his very recent embarrassing loss to Blair Cobbs.

Jermell Charlo seems to have fallen off since he lost his last fight against Canelo Alvarez in 2023. Yes, Jermall still has his zero intact, but his mental health issues and retirement talks suggest fans might not see him many more times in the ring again. So, that leaves Davis literally the last man standing. It is important to note that all the boxers in the image except for Adrien Broner and Zab Judah were the early signees under Al Haymon’s PBC. Touted as the next big stars in boxing, PBC promoted their fights with much pomp. However, just like PBC, their initial promise didn’t materialize into the boxing greats they were touted to be. That is everyone except Gervonta Davis.

Having said that, when fans discovered this picture posted by coach Calvin Ford on Instagram, this is what they said!

Calvin Ford – Trainer of the Year, for Gervonta Davis?

Coach Calvin Ford might have trained Davis to perfection, but he couldn’t do that for Broner and didn’t get the chance with Spence, even though he was happy to do it. Regardless, this fan hoped Ford would get the ‘Trainer of the Year’ award for his work with Davis. A user wrote, “You deserve coach of the year”. In 2023, the award went to Brian “BoMac” McIntyre for his work with Terence Crawford. Perhaps, if Davis beats Vasyl Lomachenko this year, Ford could get the honor.

The next user thought the picture was oozing power, as the user asked, “Do you know how powerful this picture is”? That picture does have a lot of champions in it, actually, all of them are.

Someone else highlighted how Davis was the only one in the picture who is still ruling over the sport. “It’s crazy how Tank is the last one Standing … damn”, wrote the user. Perhaps that’s the reason he is seen as the new face of boxing.

Another user reminisced about the days when these were the boxers on top of the food chain. “Good Ole Days & They All Still Tight As Hell Love This”, the user remarked. In fact, Broner even trained beside Davis for his recent Cobbs fight.

One eagle-eyed user pointed out ‘Tank’ is the only one in this picture who isn’t smiling, and is the only one undefeated. “Tank only one ain’t smiling only one ain’t loss DAMN,” the user wrote.

Things haven’t been going well for most of the boxers in the image, so perhaps this blast from the past would help them feel better or do better. As for Gervonta Davis, there is much left for that man to achieve.

Only Charlie Woods knows the pressure it takes to be the only son of the golfing great, Tiger Woods. So far, the 15-year-old has been under the microscope as golf fans predict his future, primarily on account of whether it will be as bright as his father’s. And Woods has not disappointed the masses, as he recently acclaimed the US Junior Amateur qualifier at Eagle Trace Golf Club to play his first USGA event.

As Tiger Woods won the amateur title three times in his life, once Charlie Woods tees up at Oakland Hill Country Club, a similar spectacle would be expected of him. Talking about winning his first USGA event, has the 15-year-old junior pro ever won in his life, for that matter?

Over the past couple of years, Charlie Woods has started playing more and more golf. From playing in the qualifiers for the Cognizant Classic to the 124th U.S. Open, the 15-year-old has left no stone unturned to make a name for himself. Although he couldn’t pass those two tests, Woods has tasted victories in his career.

Woods has played mainly on two tours: the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour and the South Florida PGA Junior Tour (SFPJ Tour). Between the two leagues, the 15-year-old’s first victory was at the SFPJ Tour. Woods won the Links Tour Jonathan Landing Old Trail, a 9-hole event in August 2020 on the 9-11 division.

Moreover, he was also the leading golfer for two days at the SFPGA’s West Coast High School event to win a gold medal and catapult Benjamin High School to the winner’s podium. But to date, Woods has not carded another victory at the South Florida PGA Junior Tour. However, the 15-year-old has won four times on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. He first won the South Florida Junior Open in February 2022 and again the next year.

Additionally, the Flordia native was also victorious at the Major Championship at the Village Open for two consecutive years, in 2022 and 2023, respectively. Woods also won a qualifier last September for the Noath Begay III Junior Championship but couldn’t win the prestigious event. So, as evident, Woods’s award shelf is not empty of victories; just like his father, he has attempted to win and emerge as the best junior golfer. However, there is a blemish in Woods’s illustrious record.

Shocking as it might be, Charlie Woods had never played an AJGA event until February 2024. As revealed, even the U.S. Junior Amateur will be his first-ever USGA event. Consequently, among his peers like Miles Russell and Blade Brown, Woods has been in the rear seat regarding elevated amateur events.

However, the 15-year-old did try to change that, as he made his AJGA debut at the Will Lowry Junior Championship four months ago. After shooting 78, 81, and 78 in three rounds, Woods fell into a tie for 32 and left the course disappointed. His AJGA debut was spoiled, and he failed yet again to make a mark. Courtesy of his not having a membership in these organizations, Woods is also not ranked either on the AJGA Rankings or the WAGR.

But things might change if he successfully wins the U.S. Junior Amateur, which will start on July 22nd. Then, for once and all, he could hammer down his name as the next biggest junior golfer in the game.

“Can’t Wait”: Simone Biles’ Husband, Jonathan Owens Celebrates As She Makes Debut On Netflix

The first trailer for Simone Biles‘ Netflix documentary is out. The four-part docuseries will showcase the gymnast’s journey from struggle to redemption as she prepares for Paris Olympics. As always her husband, Jonathan Owens, who had a special tribute for Biles at the US Championships recently, was excited for her and once again showed his support.

The documentary titled Simone Biles Rising, was first announced on May 15, and since then the anticipation has been building. The docuseries which will release on July 17, will give fans a detailed and closer look into Biles’ journey back to the Olympics after a hiatus following her “twisties” in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

As soon as Netflix dropped the trailer, Owens took to his Instagram to share the news, captioning his story “Can’t wait for the world to see ” While the trailer focuses on what went through her mind during that difficult time, it also showcases a few moments with Owens and how he acted as a support system for her.

She’s bounced back, and she’s really opened my eyes,” Owens says in the trailer, with Biles adding on camera: “I knew it would be a long journey, but to me, it wasn’t done.” In the trailer, Biles also mentions how she knew something could go wrong at the Tokyo Olympics, even before she stepped up to perform.

She says, “I’ve always had really good intuition about things, and unfortunately I felt that way about the Olympics.” All eyes were on Biles during the 2020 Summer Games as she hoped to add to her four Olympic gold medals, but she was forced to pull out of the final event after experiencing a case of “twisties.” Her withdrawal shocked fans and fellow athletes alike, but she stood firm on her decision. Despite stepping back, Biles used her downtime to the best of her advantage.

She decided to focus on her mental health, spending her time with her family, and preparing for an upcoming tour with Team USA. Her then-boyfriend, Jonathan Owens, was her pillar through this difficult time, and supported her by helping her focus on what matters the most: herself.

When Biles made her return to gymnastics with the Core Hydration Classic, Owens who could not be present with her in person, was eager to know how she did. “I just told her to call me whenever she gets a moment. So I didn’t get to really FaceTime her until around 11, but she was excited,” he told the ESPN at the time, adding that how they “stayed up until about 3 in the morning just on the phone, just talking and reliving the moment.” He added, “I know if felt like a dream to her so I was super excited for her.”

Owens has been a constant source of support for Biles and even showed up on Day 1 of the US Gymnastics Championships in May. He was joined by Biles’ sister Adria, and her friends Kayla Simone and Rachel Roettger, who cheered on the gymnast, while wearing a custom Biles T-shirt, which had a collage of her pictures and the words “SIMONE” written above them.

Biles is on her redemption arc, highlighted by back-to-back victories at the Core Hydration Classic and the US Championships. With Paris in sight, she looks to banish the memories of Tokyo, which even had her contemplating retirement at one point.

Simone Biles made headlines when she announced that she would be stepping away from several events at the Summer Games to focus on her mental health. While her fans rallied to support her decision, many were still unsure of what went down. This docuseries promises to offer fans a closer look into Biles’s life during and post this trying time.

The trailer starts with Biles narration and paired with a few snippets of Simone’s captivating displays, the next scene focuses on Biles’ first encounter outside the floor. “So, having these mental blocks in the gym recently.” She is seen crying in several poignant moments throughout the trailer, and also briefly mentions wanting to quit on several occasions. She says, “I wanted to quit like 500,000 times, and I would have if it weren’t for my people.”

The docuseries will bring to light several such personal moments from Simone Biles’ incredible journey on July 17 in four 45-minute episodes.

Although Gervonta Davis had initially occupied the no. 1 spot on the list, after ‘Tank’ vs. Frank Martin, Vasyl Lomachenko and Davis swapped places leading fans to beg for Loma vs. Davis.

Gervonta Davis had yet to make his return after the win against Ryan Garcia when Vasyl Lomachenko had tested himself against Devin Haney and George Kambosos Jr. Against Haney, Loma had a commendable performance which made several people question the decision of the fight delivered in Devin’s favor. Later, the Ukrainian boxer made a startling comeback by capturing an eleventh-round TKO against former Unified Lightweight champion, George Kambosos Jr. to win the IBF Lightweight title.

However, per the Ring Magazine, Vasyl Lomachenko remained no. 2 as Gervonta Davis, although inactive, was still undefeated in the sport. On the 15th of June, ‘Tank’ returned to KO Frank Martin in the eighth round of their fight with a thudding overhand. But despite the victory, the Ring Magazine has pushed ‘Tank’ behind Lomachenko.

Will Tiger Woods Walk Back on His Open Championship Promise for Son Charlie’s Massive USGA Feat?

Charlie Woods might have put his father in a tough spot. The teenager earned the medalist honor at the Eagle Trace Golf Club in Coral Springs, Florida, one of the 40 sites for the U.S. Junior Amateur qualifier. Woods Jr. will travel to Oakland Hills on July 22, a day after the Open Championship ends on Royal Troon, on the other side of the pond.

His 15-time major winning pop, Tiger Woods, has confirmed that the Open Championship will be his last competitive outing this year. But Charlie’s qualification means Woods will likely miss the first day at Oakland Hills if he makes the cut at Royal Troon.

The 48-year-old has previously caddied for his son at the regional qualifier for the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship. Given a chance, no doubt, the 82-time PGA Tour winner would love to walk with his son again. The Hall of Famer was reportedly present during Charlie’s AJGA debut. Moreover, Oakland Hills is where Woods played his last U.S. Open as an amateur.

Although the nine-time USGA champion has yet to offer any public congratulations to his son, it might be unlikely that Tiger Woods would pull out from the Open Championship. It has been four years since the former world no. 1 played all four majors in a calendar year. On top of that, the U.S. Junior Amateur doesn’t allow the parents to caddie for their children.

But the tournament runs from July 22–27. The first two days feature 18-hole stroke play to determine the 64 qualifiers for the final match play. The final round of 36-hole match play is scheduled on July 27, after three days of eliminations on the South Course.

If Charlie Woods makes the cut his father can arrive at Oakland Hills a little late. And, even if the teenager misses it, Tiger Woods can be at Bloomfield Township on July 23. Regardless of his father’s presence, Charlie Woods is unlikely to be deprived of family support.

Charlie Woods might have his mom on his side 

Elin Nordegren is expected to check in at Oakland Hills, regardless of whether her ex-husband accompanies her or not. Nordegren, who divorced Woods but maintained a steady friendship, stood as a pillar behind Charlie Woods at Cognizant Classic Pre-qualifier.

Woods Jr.’s PGA Tour bid ended in a disaster, but Nordegren kept his son from the outpouring of spectators eager to get close to the 15-year-old. Tiger Woods was recovering from influenza at that time.

“They have mastered the art of co-parenting,” said Notah Begay III, a close friend of Woods. It’s evident time and again. The Norwegian was at Charlie Woods’s Benjamin school ceremony, where the teenager received the State Championship ring. During Woods’s near-fatal car accident, Nordegren was also spotted taking their son and daughter, Sam Woods, to soccer practice.
