Conor Benn is ready to face boxing’s best after his comeback win on Saturday night.
The 26-year-old welterweight contender returned to the ring amid controversy around the ongoing appeal in his UKAD case following two positive drug tests last year.
However, he didn’t have things all his own way against tough Mexican Rodolfo Orozco who forced him to go the ten-round distance at Florida’s Caribe Royale Hotel.
After picking up a unanimous decision win, Benn took to social media to post highlights from his fight and celebrate returning to the ring with a win after 17 months on the sidelines.
Among the many things he posted on his Instagram story, ‘The Destroyer’ made comments about Terence Crawford and Chris Eubank Jr.
Benn posted a picture of the WBC welterweight rankings that showed him at number six and added a caption that suggested he wants to face Crawford who is the undisputed king at 147lbs.
“I’m coming for the throne,” he wrote on the post that also took a sly dig at Josh Taylor by covering his five-star rating with the aubergine emoji.
Eddie Hearn immediately started talking up Benn’s chances in a potential fight with Eubank Jr and revealed his plan to rebook their scrap for December.
He told IFL TV: “I don’t think Eubank Jr could stand up to those shots. He got stopped by Liam Smith with a lot less ferocity than Benn tonight.”
