Simone Biles became the most decorated gymnast in history at 26 after much criticized Tokyo Olympics appearance. Upon her return, the national champion returned to the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium. The 7-time Olympian not only continued her winning streak but also created history by being the first female to perform and have the Yurchenko double pike vault named after her.
Despite an astounding 30 medals from world championships and seven from the Olympics, she finds balance in her personal life. Recently, on her seasonal break, she spent some quality time spending moments with her NFL player husband Jonathan Owens.
During a recent interview on ‘Chill Chat’ by Bustle, Simone discussed everything from wellness to cherished traditions with her spouse. When the host asked Simone about her recovery techniques, she surprised everyone by revealing: “My husband and I got a cold tub for our backyard. I haven’t done a cold plunge yet, but once he gets back to Houston, we’re going to get it set up.“
Her commitment to gymnastics can be easily understood in the regime update—training six to seven hours a day, seven days a week, with Sundays off. In addition, she gets some bodywork done like “massages, acupuncture needles, KT Tape. And I like to soak in a hot tub,” said the gymnast. When asked to decide between yoga and Pilates she disclosed having tried Pilates three times with Owens, who is a big proponent of the exercise.
Finally, when asked about how the “wind down at the end of the day” looks like; Biles said she takes her dogs Lilo and Rambo outside for an hour to play fetch with them. She added, “I also FaceTime my husband, and then I’ll catch up on YouTube videos or podcasts.” While there’s another heartfelt tradition the beloved athletic couple follow which makes the world turn wishful to have a bond like theirs.
The distance between Simone and Jonathan hasn’t cooled the spark of their love after their wedding, which signaled the start of their separate professional journeys—Jonathan signing with the Green Bay Packers and Simone getting ready for her gymnastics comeback. The strong bond only turned to social media cheering and Biles frequent visits as hefty deductions bound Owens.
In fact, Simone boarded a plane to be by her husband’s side after serving as a bridesmaid at her best friend Rachel Moore’s bachelorette party highlights the strength of their relationship. Simone’s actions are indicative of the tradition and continue to live up to the standard the Owens have set which only overrides the previous one with time!
