Simone Biles delivered an excellent floor routine in the final rotation to clinch the victory by more than two points over runner-up Brazil. The Americans’ score of 167.729 was well off its mark in the qualifying round, and the winning margin was narrower than their other recent team titles, but they had to overcome a fall on beam, an injury to Joscelyn Roberson and minor miscues throughout the meet.
With its silver, Brazil won its first team medal at world championships or the Olympics, and third-place France rose from seventh in the qualifying round to win the bronze. China had a solid performance but couldn’t stay in medal position because of it’s low difficulty scores on vault.
